Some comments on the results on Battlefield 3:
1) When you buy a CPU the TOTAL performance matters – not just in ONE game/application.
2) 33 against 32 FPS is within the margin of error. I’ve seen test where Intel’s CPU performed better in BF3 also.
3) The current state of BF3 is beta. According to the developers themselves the game will be optimized differently in the retail release.
I also would like to give some constructive criticism:
- Next time make sure the PR department does a better job. The hype was totally unnecessary and turned out a huge disappointment for consumers. Perhaps Bulldozer should have been a server CPU instead?
- Plenty of graphs and statistics were either dishonest or wrong. Don’t underestimate consumers competence. Be honest.
- If you want Bulldozer to succeed; drop prices and fix power consumption. Then it might very well turn out to be an attractive option.
- Release a 32 nm Phenom III X6. It could have been an excellent budget CPU for those who want a cheap rendering PC with potential OC.
Please guys – get a grip! We need AMD for the sake of competition and technology. Just face it: Bulldozer was a huge disappointment, 95% of the reviews were either negative or unenthusiastic. Any company can fail once in a while, just make sure you learn from your mistakes.
